The figures at the 2010 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale continue to grow with more sales since Friday’s third session.

A beautifully bred colt by Exceed and Excel, catalogued as lot number 391, has been sold for $200,000 and will join the stables of Perth’s leading Group One trainer Dan Morton.

The Yarradale Stud offering is the fifth foal of the Karrakatta Plate winning Pricelessly mare Born Priceless.

Morton, who’s previous graduates of the sale include star performers Scenic Blast and Scenic Shot, was delighted to add the colt to his list of purchases from the popular auction.

“He’s a really nice colt by a great stallion,” Morton said. “His half relation was very smart and won at Moonee Valley before being retired to stud.”

“Dad had the mother when she was racing in Melbourne,” Morton commented. “She won the Karrakatta and had a lot of ability.”

The Exceed and Excel colt was bred and sold by Ron Sayers’ Yarradale Stud at Gidgegannup.

Meanwhile, the six figure sales continued when a syndicate of Western Australian breeders purchased lot 202 for $105,000.

The youngster, a filly by Fusaichi Pegasus, is a half sister to international group winners Able Prince and Hurricane Queen. The dam has produced four stakes performed from just nine runners.

The filly was offered at the auction by Eddie Rigg’s Geisel Park Stud at Lake Clifton.

The clearance rate for the sale was not risen to 80 per cent – well up from 72 per cent for the same three sessions last year. The gross for the three select session of the auction is now $13,563,500.

The value hunters are out in force at Belmont today with the fourth and final session of the auction taking place.
