Bryan Guy’s love affair with Queensland’s richest raceday continued today when quality galloper Noisy Ocean won the $200,000 Oracle Magic Millions Stayers Cup (1800m) at the Gold Coast.
Despite covering extra ground during the race, the son of Shovhog showed great fight to get to the line a neck clear of his rivals in a driving finish.
Guy has won a number of races on Magic Millions day over the years and this was his second Stayers Cup win following Bareena’s success in 2008.
“He did a tough job today and he found the line,” Guy said.
“I told Larry (Olsen, Sky Channel) a week ago that I would have him right for today and he’d just about win.”
“I thought both of the horses would run great and the other one (Dienekes) ran third with my young girl apprentice aboard, it’s sensational for her as well.”
“It was a great result and it’s just so great winning good races on the home track,” Guy added.
Noisy Ocean with Tommy Berry aboard got home by a neck to beat Scorpio Queen, while Dienekes was third, another long neck back.
Noisy Ocean is turning out an incredible money spinner for his connections considering he cost Guy just $15,000 at the 2010 Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Raheen Stud draft.
With seven strong wins and eight placings from 38 starts, Noisy Ocean has sent his prizemoney earnings soaring to $494,200.
Raheen Stud will present a yearling half brother to Noisy Ocean by Epsom Handicap winner Captain Sonador as Lot 848 on Day Five of the Gold Coast Yearling Sale tomorrow.
Noisy Ocean is one of four winners from his dam, the unraced Sir Tristram mare Hepburn Rose.
Hepburn Rose is a daughter of the Sydney stakes winning Bletchingly mare and hails from the family of Tornado King, Tempestuous and Miss Pagaentry.
Noisy Ocean is one of 211 individual winners for Danehill’s sire son Shovhog, a former stakes winner for the Jack Denham stable.
