A beautifully bred filly by champion sire Redoute’s Choice topped Book 2 on day five of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale on Sunday.
Presented by Arrowfield Stud, the filly from stakes winner Flame of Sydney was knocked down to Prime Thoroughbred’s Joe O’Neill for $280,000.
“I purchased her for Power Thoroughbreds,” O’Neill said. “She was a stand out filly today who has a lot going for her.”
“She has a lovely hindquarter and if she does the right thing on the track she will develop into an outstanding broodmare of the future.”
A half sister to this season’s Coolmore Stud Stakes runner-up Not Listenin’tome, the filly is the fourth foal of the stakes winning and group performed Encosta de Lago mare Flame of Sydney.
The top price for a colt came when the Mane Lodge colt by I Am Invincible from Snippety Day sold to Magic Millions as agent for a local stable for $160,000.
All up on Sunday over $9.5 million was traded on 199 lots sold at an average price of $47,924. The clearance rate today was a healthy and always growing 83.3 per cent.
“We took more horses and naturally were concerned that this may skew the numbers,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox reported.
“However the momentum of Book 1 rolled into Book 2 and all numbers are up across the board.”
“It was great to see the support of some of our most commercial vendors and they ended up being very well rewarded.”
“Equally the participation of some of our highest profile buyers was very pleasing to see.”
“It gives us great confidence to market Book 2 in 2015,” Cox summed up.
Today’s results came at the same time as the clearance rate for the Book 1, Day 1-4 sale which concluded last night, went past 89 per cent.
The 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and Carnival will conclude on Tuesday with a final smaller yearling session followed up a popular racehorse sale.
