It was the third straight feature win for Krone following success in the $1 million Magic Millions Fillies & Mares on the Gold Coast and the Group Two Guy Walter Stakes at Randwick. Well positioned during the race, Krone was able to get a split later in the race and charge between runners and score a comprehensive length and a quarter win, her first win past 1400 metres. “When she got the split she really accelerated,” a beaming Tim Clark said after the moment. “She’s in such great form.” “She had a good horse’s weight and she put that field away comfortably,” Clark added. The win was the first at Group One level for leading Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan following the Doomben 10,000 quinella of Spirit of Boom and Temple of Boom in 2014. “It’s very satisfying,” winning trainer Tony Gollan said. “I was more confident earlier in the week thinking we might get a wet track.” “When the run presented she was just too good. She’s gone up in weight and won on an unsuitable good three and she’s done the job – fantastic!” “We only got her up to our place last winter and she was meant to go through the June sale last year and the guys said how would she go in the Magic Millions Fillies and Mares race – she still had the appetite to race and it’s worked out well.” “I can’t praise the mare enough. She’s done a tremendous job. She’s a really good mare who’s in great form.” Gollan said a race like the Coolmore Legacy during the Championships could be on the cards for Krone, but said he would see how she pulls up before deciding what’s next. Krone has been an incredible ambassador for Magic Millions, having been sold through the Gold Coast sales ring on three occasions. Bred by Bell View Park Stud and Foote Street Investments she was originally sold through the Bell View Park draft for $30,000 at the 2016 National Weanling Sale. She was purchased on that occasion by former Widden Stud yearling manager Rae-Louise Kelly and sold through Widden to Rosemont Stud for $60,000 at the Gold Coast Yearling Sale. Rae-Louise now operates Fernrigg Farm with her husband Padraig and it caps a big day at Rosehill as earlier in the day Shaquero, a horse they prepared and sold at the Gold Coast won the Pago Pago Stakes. Rosemont Stud broke in the filly and prepared her for the Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale. She showed immediately ability and was the fastest breeze-up performer at the Seymour session in Victoria. At the Gold Coast as a two-year-old she caught the eye of highly regarded agent Jeremy Rogers who did the deal at $120,000 to secure her for syndication outfit Roll the Dice Racing. The pin up performer for Stan Fox Stakes winner Eurozone, Krone is from the once raced Al Maher mare Soft Landing – a half sister to Group One winners Universal Prince and Universal Queen.
