At a meeting held at the Magic Millions Complex today in respect of Queensland breeders, attended by vendors including Basil Nolan, the President of Thoroughbred Breeders Queensland, it was decided to shift the QTIS 600 Yearling Sale from 21-22 March to 17-18 April.
“The decision was made in respect of what has occurred in flood ravaged Queensland to give people, both vendors and buyers, time to get back on their feet,” Magic Millions Managing Director Stephen Silk said.
“Magic Millions will work with all concerned to ensure that the sale is a success on the new dates of 17-18 April.”
“We have been advised from Racing Queensland that the running of the $250,000 QTIS 600 race will be unaffected and the race will go ahead as scheduled on Saturday, 19 March,” Silk added.
Thoroughbred Breeders Queensland President Basil Nolan said the move was welcomed by his organisation.
“Vendors felt that delaying the sale by a month would be beneficial to purchasers after the devastation of the floods in Queensland,” Nolan said.
“We asked Magic Millions if they would consider moving the sale and after a long disuccssion it was decded to move back a month,” he added.
“We thank Magic Millions for their support and we hope that people realise that our decision is made with them in mind with the hardship that has gone on during the past month.”
Catalogues for the sale will be available shortly.
