Pure Whisper staked his claims for January’s $2 million BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic with an impressive on speed win in today’s QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1010m) at Doomben.
A member of the Gold Coast stables of Gillian Heinrich, Pure Whisper continued the dream start to the new season for Victorian based freshman sire Purrealist who has now sired two impressive first crop winners – both of them likely to be aimed at the Magic Millions Classic.
Last week it was the Gai Waterhouse trained Pure Hustle who scored the milestone win for Purrealist when an impressive all the way winner at Rosehill.
This time around it was the famous pink and black colours of Heinrich Bloodstock who were aboard a first crop winner for Purrealist – with Pure Whisper at Doomben.
The Heinrich’s won the 2010 Magic Millions 2YO Classic with Military Rose and they will be hoping they can match that feat just 24 months after that landmark success.
“He’s a big horse and he’s showed speed from day one,” Heinrich told AAP. “I haven’t barrier trialled him but I gave him a jumpout and he led.”
“He’s a lovely horse but I can’t compare him yet to Magic Millions until he has another start.”
“I could find another run for him shortly or because he’s so big it might be best to rest him,” she added.
Winning rider Damian Browne was super impressed with the performance of the winner.
“All of Gillian’s know what to do,” Browne said. “He’s a lovely traveller and on the corner he half-waited for the others to catch him.”
“There’s a lot of improvement to come from him yet,” he added.
The Heinrich’s purchased Pure Whisper for $170,000 from the draft of Makybe at January’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Pure Whisper is the second winner for the lightly raced Danehill mare Quiet Name – a half sister to the French stakes winner and American winner No Dream.
Quiet Name is from a winning Seattle Slew half sister to mutiple Group One winner Dare and Go and fellow Group One winner Go Deputy.
