Pierro confirmed his status as one of the world’s best juveniles with an electrifying win in today’s Group One ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Randwick.

Sent out the second favourite despite winning the world’s richest juvenile, the Golden Slipper, at his most recent outing, Pierro let his class do the talking with an outstanding success.

Off the speed early, Pierro showed an amazing turn of foot in the straight, reeling in the leader Raceway and clearing out with a furlong to run.

Black Caviar’s younger half brother, the unbeaten All Too Hard, was the odds on favourite but he was left behind when Pierro dashed away.

“There was nothing too hard about that,” Waterhouse beamed after the almost two length win.

“Outstanding colt. I have said it from day one – what else does he have to do.”

“He wins every race he goes in – he wins every major and they still question him. They must be blind or deaf the poor buggers.”

Waterhouse said she wouldn’t rush into deciding whether her star colt would back up in the Champagne Stakes – saying she would wait to “see how he pulls up.”

“Look at the way he donkey-licked them today when he got over 1400 metres. What will he do when he gets over 2000 metres – he will brain them again.”

Pierro stopped the clock in a slick 1 minute 21.47 seconds – quicker than the mighty Luskin Star ran in 1977, the previous race record time for the Group One juvenile event. His prizemoney has soared past $2.7 million.

Another of Pierro’s biggest fans is his regular rider Nash Rawiller.

“I thought he was exceptional today,” Rawiller said. “When I got to them I wasn’t 100 per cent certain where All Too Hard was and I didn’t want to worry about him – I wanted to worry about my bloke.”

“I just didn’t know if he would get there and stargaze a bit. I was just amazed how well he came away, he was sensational.”

“He is a bloody serious horse – chills run up my spine when I ride him.”

Waterhouse purchased Pierro for $230,000 on behalf of owners Greg and Donna Kolivos at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The Lonhro colt was offered at that auction by Victoria’s Musk Creek Farm after being pin-hooked by David Kobritz for $115,000 from the 2010 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.

Bred and sold as a weanling by Sheikh Mohammed’s powerful Australian operation of Darley, Pierro is the second runner and first winner for the Daylami mare Miss Right Note.

A winner at Chantilly in France, Miss Right Note was imported to Australia and she won in Sydney prior to being retired to stud.

Miss Right Note is a half sister to the former Champion Italian based gallper Laverock – who is by Lonhro’s champion sire Octagonal and thus closely related to today’s Slipper winning star.

Pierro’s third dam was a stakes winner at Newbury and his black type filled family include international stakes winners Flying Cloud, Captain Webb, Lady Meydan and Knight’s Tour.
