Quality Brisbane juvenile Noisy Ocean made it two wins and $170,000 in earnings for the week when he finished too well for his rivals and win the $150,000 QTIS 600 Plate (1200m) at the Sunshine Coast tonight.
Prepared by Bryan Guy, Noisy Ocean sat on the speed throughout and was able to ground down Kahui to win in good style.
The son of Shovhog was sent out an odds on favourite with on and off course punters after an impressive win at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Guy, in Hong Kong on business, was delighted with the victory.
“He’s done a great job winning $170,000 in a week,” Guy said. “Not bad for a horse we paid just $15,000 from Raheen Stud at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale.”
Noisy Ocean was first emergency for the recent $2 million BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic and was left in his stable when he failed to gain a start.
But that could have been a blessing for his connections as the exciting juvenile has notched consecutive wins since missing a Millions start.
“He’ll go straight to the paddock now,” Guy noted.
“We’ll look at a winter campaign with races like the (QTC) Sires’ (Produce Stakes) and TJ Smith in mind.”
“He should appreciate those sort of distances. I think he’s got a nice future.”
A graduate of Queensland’s famed Raheen Stud, Noisy Ocean is a son of Danehill’s proven sire son Shovhog.
He is one of four winners produced by the unraced Sir Tristram mare Hepburn Rose – a half sister to Buriton and daughter of Penny Row.
It was a memorable night for the youngsters with 17-year-old apprentice Mitchell Wood scoring his biggest ever win in the preceding race when Dalzar won at cricket score odds in the listed Sunshine Coast Cup.
“I thought I might have been beaten (by Dual Chamber) on the line – but we got there and it was a big thrill,” Wood said.
