It’s not only on the racetracks that Magic Millions graduates are making headlines.

Queensland’s focus this week has been on the Royal Queensland Show and horses with strong ties to Magic Millions have been starring in the show ring.

The Champion Stallion crown, Australia’s premier thoroughbred show award, was yesterday awarded to Linda Powell’s Regal Banquet.

A five-year-old entire by King’s Best, Regal Banquet was selected and purchased by the Powells with a show career in mind for $5,000 at the 2006 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.

Regal Banquet has also been shown successfully under saddle and will eventually become a much sought after equestrian stallion.

A graduate of Bridgeview Stud, Regal Banquet is a half brother to five winners including Raid and Rule (12 wins) and is from the unraced Lunchtime mare Vanity Time.

Vanity Time is a full sister to Magic Night Stakes winner Fickle Hostess (dam of Abeel Hostess) and half sister to four time group winner Zabarra and the stakes placed juvenile Name in Vain.

Meanwhile, three thoroughbreds heading to an upcoming Magic Millions auction were also winners at the prestigious event.

A colt by Elusive Quality, who is being prepared by Peter Strong for the National Horses in Training Sale in October, walked away with the Champion Thoroughbred 2YO Exhibit award.

The handsome chestnut is from an unraced Success Express half sister to stakes winner Snippets’ Crown – the dam of Group One winner Unearthly.

Another Strong youngster heading to Australia’s premier breeze-up style sale, a two-year-old filly by Bel Danoro, won a second ribbon in the 2YO filly class.

Rounding out a big day for the Strong stable, the Youthful Legs mare Miss Linkin won a blue ribbon at the event.

In foal to exciting first season sire Publishing, Miss Linkin will go under the hammer as lot 101 at Sunday’s August Thoroughbred Sale at the Gold Coast.

“There is a big market for thoroughbreds in equestrian fields and yesterday’s results from the Royal Queensland Show emphasise this.”
