International buyers from last year’s Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale have been on a hot streak in Australia in recent weeks.
Two-year-olds purchased from October’s sale on the Gold Coast have been out and winning around Australia and their international owners have been getting a quick return on their investment.
Macau based brother Nicholas and James Moore, sons of leading trainer Gary, have been celebrating over the past 10 days with two impressive juvenile winners for their international clients.
Grand Business, who is set to run at Rosehill tomorrow, kick started the good run when he romped to victory in an ATC metropolitan race at Newcastle on June 20.
A $180,000 National Horses in Training Sale graduate by All Bar One, Grand Business was stakes placed earlier this season in Queensland before heading south and joining the Chris Waller stable.
Grand Business is raced by Macau based businessman Lai Chan Cheong and was the fourth highest priced lot sold at October’s auction.
One of those who made more, the Nadeem-Seven Stars colt from Washpool Lodge, was also purchased by the Moore brothers – this time for $220,000.
Now known as Happy Galaxy, the Nadeem colt couldn’t have been more impressive, overcoming greenness for an outstanding debut win at Geelong for the Hawkes stable on Tuesday.
Happy Galaxy is raced by Chinese based businessman Ye Hanqiang and was described by winning rider Dean Holland as a likely black type galloper.
Hong Kong based bloodstock agent Justin Bahen is another to have tasted success from last year’s sale with an early winner in Australia for an international client.
Ting Kong Cheng races The Copper Sun, a $50,000 son of Bradbury’s Luck, purchased on his behalf by Bahen from the Attunga Stud draft.
The Copper Sun made the perfect start to his racing career when a winner at Bendigo on June 17 for the Patrick Payne and Billy Egan combination.
Other early winners from last year’s HIT sale for Australians include promising juveniles Tear it Up, Heartfelt Quest and The Storeman.
Abroad the record is impressive with Singapore Group Two winner Pitstop joined by other international winners Golden Prince, Music Vault, Penetrator, Salute to Heaven, Cheonji Bulpae, Chogwang and Raffiner.
Already there are 14 individual winners to have graduated from October’s auction and that figure will be certain to rise dramatically over the coming weeks and months.
The previous year’s sale, of which the crop are just three-year-olds, has already produced 109 individual winners.
