Aquanita’s Perth trainer Simon Miller again proved the old racing adage that patience is a virtue when he produced the smart Helter Skelter 3 year old filly Mia China Doll in her debut race at Pinjarra today.

Mia China Doll got to the front of a packed field from an outside barrier and coasted to an easy 1 ¼  length win. Astute Singapore Magic Millions agent Wade Burridge spotted the daughter of the 2007 Magic Millions Sprint & Lightning Winner at the 2010 QTIS 600 Sale for WA racing family the Gangemi’s who were keen to speculate on her breeding being out of the Catbird mare Le Cat who is a ½ sister to former Perth 2yo Magic Millions Classic winner Wolfe Dreams.

Mia China Doll’s win impressed Miller and will be heading back to his Perth stables confident she will handle the step up in class to secure city success.

Incredibly the son of English sprinter Piccolo, Helter Skelter has now produced 2 individual winners and 2 placegetters from only 4 starters in his first crop of just six named foals. Like many stallions of the day Helter Skelter was an unfortunate victim of Australia’s EI disaster but with the percentage of success from such limited numbers including 4 time winner Psychodelic and the increased book of mares from last season the future for the stallion looks assured.

Helter Skelter remains the only stallion contact in Australia with Piccolo’s bloodline which is still well sought after with the deeds of Grp1 winner Queensland’s Temple Of Boom.

Stan Johnston’s Craiglea Stud at Kenilworth is continuing their support of Helter Skelter this season and Stan has committed to having minimum 12 mares covered this year.
