Rick Hore-Lacy’s winning run with his team of juveniles rolled on at Ballarat today when promising youngster Pull No Punches cruised home in the opening event.

On Saturday the renowned horseman cheered home his crack two-year-old colt Toorak Toff to victory in the Group Three National Stakes at Morphettville.

The son of Show a Heart was sent out the second favourite and under Damien Oliver he produced a powerful finish to reel in the leader and favourite and win impressively.

Toorak Toff, a $135,000 buy from the draft of Glenlogan Park, had won the Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic at his previous start.

A graduate of last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Pull No Punches was on the same truck as Toorak Toff heading back to Victoria when snapped up by Hore-Lacy.

Pull No Punches was one of two Magic Millions graduates in the field – the other Narcelo was beaten a short half head. The rest of the field were a further two and a quarter lengths back.

Winning rider Chris Symons, who won the Magic Millions Adelaide Classic aboard Toorak Toff, was impressed with Pull No Punches this afternoon.

“It worked out perfect. I think the 1400 (metres) really helped. The barrier definitely helped.”

“This horse is going to get further. He’s a nice type to look at and he’s got plenty of scope.”

Symons is confident that like Toorak Toff, Pull No Punches is going to develop into a handy performer of the future – particularly when his distances are increased.

“He’s a nice type. He’s solid. I don’t think we’ll see his best until next time – as a three-year-old, next prep.”

“And perhaps over a mile to 2000 metres.”

The 33rd winner for his sire, former star racehorse Elvstroem, Pull No Punches is another graduate of Gerry Harvey’s Baramul Stud.

The colt is a half brother to the South African group performer Fearless Gun – a seven time winner and winner of over half a million rand.

Their dam Show No Restraint, a winner at 1200 metres by Barathea, is a half sister to Slanchyvah (dam of Dreamworks), the dam of El Nino and Tonzazip (dam of Grey Song, Tonz More Fun and Fairess).

Meanwhile, the winning form of exciting young Queensland sire Hidden Dragon continued at Rockhampton today when Hidden Diamond impressed on debut.

A $15,000 purchase from last year’s Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale, Hidden Diamond is the fifth first crop winner for his sire.

A full sister to Hidden Diamond is being prepared by Lyndhurst Stud for the upcoming Magic Millions National Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast in June.
