Top Australian bred galloper Hold it Harvey made it stakes win number six with a stirring victory in the Group Three White Robe Lodge Stakes (1600m) at Otago in New Zealand on Saturday.
Already a winner of the Group Three Easter Cup and four other stakes events for trainer Terri Rae, Hold it Harvey is one of the most consistent gallopers in New Zealand.
In fact the King Cugat gelding has won or placed in no fewer than 25 of his 37 starts.
Hold it Harvey was purchased by his trainer for just $16,000 at the 2006 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale.
He was bred by leading breeder Gerry Harvey and sold through his Baramul Stud draft at the popular Gold Coast based auction.
The quality galloper was sent out the second favourite and in the run to the line he finished too well to beat the favourite Eel Win by a neck.
The result made up for last year when in a thrilling finish Eel Win nosed out Hold it Harvey in the same race.
The latest win for Hold it Harvey is the second in as many starts at black type level for the five-year-old.
On January 30 he beat Transcend and Diamond Skeem to win the listed Timaru Stakes over 1400 metres.
As it stands his impressive record reads out at 10 wins and 15 minor placings from just 37 starts and earnings of over NZ$321,000.
By Kingmambo’s top sire son King Cugat, Hold it Harvey is from the lightly raced mare Daly Charm.
A daughter of Best Western, Daly Charm is a half sister to three winners including the stakes performed, nine time winner Chanted.
Daly Charm is from a daughter of the former Champion French juvenile filly Princesse Lida.
The family takes in outstanding international stakes winners including Notting Hill, Prince of Wales, L’Escapade, Lignon’s Hero and Quick as Ray.
