Stakes winning mare Illuminates, a brilliant second to Australia’s best mare Typhoon Tracy in today’s Group One Queen of the Turf Stakes at Rosehill, will go under the hammer at June’s Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
The beautifully bred daughter of Strategic, now an earner of a massive $733,000, is one of the many stars mares to be catalogued for the Southern Hemisphere’s premier broodmare sale.
An eight time winner and 16 time placegetter from 48 starts, Illuminates won at listed class four runs back and today’s Group One runner-up placing is a deserved result for one of Sydney’s top mares.
She flew home from the back of the field in a terrific performance where she beat all but Typhoon Tracy – the Melbourne star who’s won 10 of her 13 starts and earned almost $2 million.
Meanwhile, Strawberry Field, who ran fourth in the same Group One feature race, is also set to go under the hammer at the same broodmare auction.
The stakes winning daughter of Encosta de Lago, an earner of over $207,000, is another of the highlight racing and breeding prospects for sale.
Around 2000 lots will be catalogued for the 2010 Magic Millions National Sale with a cracking line up of weanlings, race fillies and horses, broodmares, stallions and stallion shares.
