Good Nature capped a memorable weekend for Magic Millions graduates when he made it back to back wins in the Group One Selangor Gold Cup (1600m) in Malaysia on Sunday.
A son of Way of Light, Good Nature won the Gold Cup last year and in just his second start for 2011 he defended his crown in emphatic style.
At the post Good Nature held a three quarter length margin over Eagle, while Lim’s Fighter was a close up third.
Good Nature’s outstanding race record reads out at 10 wins and seven minor plaacings from just 29 starts and earnings of over M$1.3 million.
He has turned out a great money spinner for the Golden Knight Stable considering he cost just $10,000 at the 2006 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Kevin Coetzee trains Good Nature for connections and he was ridden to victory by leading Malaysian apprentice Jacky Lim.
“Good Nature is owned by Beh Chin Pheng and Mr Beh is the biggest Malaysian buyer we have as a client,” Magic Millions Acting Managing Director David Chester said.
“He’s been a buyer at Magic Millions auctions for at least 10 years and most of his star gallopers are graduates from our sales.”
“Late last year Mr Beh won the M$2 million Magic Millions Classic with another of his stars Hot Butterfly,” Chester added.
As well as Good Nature – both minor placegetters Eagle and Lim’s Fighter are also graduates of Australia’s leading international thoroughbred sales company, Magic Millions.
“To provide the trifecta in this Malaysian Group One race is a great effort,” Chester commented.
“It wraps up an outstanding weekend – where in about 36 hours 11 of our graduates won stakes races – no other Aussie sales company sold any!”
Good Nature is a son of Way of Light a two-year-old Group One winner by Woodman.
His dam, a once winning daughter of French Deputy- is a half sister to the Group Two placed, six time winner Five Ways.
Second dam Missa Brevis, a daughter of Miswaki, is a half sister to the former champion American filly Miss Alleged.
