Star Malaysian galloper Good Baby added another feature race win to his outstanding record on Sunday when he demoralised his rivals in the Group One Sprint Trophy (1400m).
Wide and midfield during the early and middle stages of the race, Good Baby unleashed a powerful sustained burst from the 400 metre mark to race away and beat his rivals by four length.
The win was the fourth at black type level among 10 victories from 24 starts and earnings of over Rgt1.8 millon (approx. A$570,000).
Prepared by Kevin Coetzee, Good Baby was full of running to the line and when he flashed past the post he held a four length margin over King Empire, while stablemate Good Sight was doing his best work late under Noel Callow to grab third, a further half length back.
A son of Cornerstone Stud based sire success Hussonet, Good Baby is raced by Richard Beh’s Golden Knight Stable.
He is one of the nation’s best horses with big race wins already in the Selangor Gold Cup, Malaysian Magic Millions Classic and Sultan Gold Vase.
“Mr Beh has been a long time client of ours and we’re delighted that Good Baby has won another Group One for him,” Magic Millions Sales Director David Chester said.
“It is great to see that Good Baby has continued the great record of Malaysian Magic Millions Classic winners by racing on with great distinction at the highest level.”
“It was also great to see that King Empire, a son of Minardi, ran second. He was purchased for just $6,000 from our National Horses in Training Sale on the Gold Coast,” Chester added.
A graduate of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale where offered by Robyn Wise, Good Baby was originally purchased by Blue Sky Thoroughbreds for $110,000 at the National Weanling Sale.
He is one of four winners produced by the five time winning Danehill mare Secret Haze – a mare whose five wins all came on metropolitan tracks in either Melbourne or Adelaide for Swettenham Stud.
Secret Haze, a winner at distances up to 1500 metres, is a three quarter sister to stakes winning sire Springsteen and the stakes producer Email Me (dam of Latin News).
She is also a half sister to the Group Three winner Voodoo Beat and hails from the family of Golden Slipper winner Marauding and Tasmanian Magic Millions Classic winner Triple Asset.
