Outstanding Perth galloper God Has Spoken broke back into the winner’s stall in style at Belmont today when he beat home a quality field in the Group Three Strickland Stakes (2000m).
In winning the feature stakes event run in Australia today, God Has Spoken was able to put behind two uncharacteristic down the track efforts at his previous two runs this campaign.
A three time stakes winner and Group One runner-up leading into the race, God Has Spoken bounced back showing the class he possessed when he produced a strong turn of foot in the straight.
Sent out at $16 with bookies, God Has Spoken cruised home to the line a length ahead of Battle Emblem ($7.50) who was a nose ahead of third placegetter King Kool Kat ($2.30 fav).
The result provided a clean sweep for Magic Millions graduates with all three placegetters graduates of the Perth sale ring.
“His work has been super, but obviously I had been very disappointed with his past couple of runs,” winning trainer Neville Parnham said of God Has Spoken.
“I don’t think he handles the wet tracks and back on top of the ground he was able to show his best.”
“2000 metres is right up his alley and he was able to travel well today as opposed to his past couple of runs.”
“It is good to have him back in the winner’s stall and hopefully he can continue on his winning way,” Parnham added.
“He’s a quality horse and he’s back to where he should be.”
“He’s earned a lot of money – as has the other bloke (Playing God) obviously Colin (Loxton) is a very astute buyer.”
“I’m not sure what to do with him (God Has Spoken). We might put him away and look to the Summer Carnival – because I think he’s up to that.”
Parnham said the Kingston Town Classic would be his number one target in the summer.
God Has Spoken was ridden to victory by one of Parnham’s two jockey sons, Steven.
A $41,000 purchase by Parnham on behalf of Colin Loxton’s Cockatoo Ridge Syndicate at the 2008 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale, God Has Spoken is a great advertisement for the WA thoroughbred industry.
The Durham Lodge graduate has earned a staggering $711,300 from his seven wins and five runner-up placings from just 31 lifetime runs.
Aside from the Strickland Stakes, God Has Spoken has won a Group Three RJ Peters Stakes, Group Three WATC Sires’ Produce Stakes and listed Aquanita Stakes.
He was also second in a Group One Kingston Town Classic and at three he was fourth in the Group One WA Derby.
God Has Spoken is by Danehill’s Victoria Derby winning son Blackfriars and is one of eight winners produced by the Rubiton mare Dolly Will Do.
As well as God Has Spoken she is the dam of his Group One winning full brother Playing God – another successful graduate of the Perth Yearling Sale..
