Doubtful Jack’s awesome win in Saturday’s listed Winter Championship Final at Flemington confirmed January’s Magic Millions 3YO Trophy as the best form race of the 2009/10 racing season.
The race was the 20th won by a runner from the $1 million Gold Coast race in January.
Fourteen of the sixteen runners have raced since stepping out in the Gold Coast feature – 12 of them are winners – the other two placed from a couple of starts.
Incredibly the 14 horses have earned a massive $2,289,100 in combined earnings – that’s $38,798 per run.
The first nine runners past the post, led home by Graceful Anna, have since January all won races – seven of them in stakes company while the other two are group placed.
Graceful Anna who won the $1 million Gold Coast feature has earned $126,400 since – headlined by victory in the Silk Stocking Stakes.
Runner-up Tallow sent her residual value soaring when at her next run she won the Group Three The Vanity at Flemington.
Third placegetter Love Conquers All has made a sparkling return to the track with two wins from as many runs including a last start win in the June Stakes (when beating Hay List).
Latin News ran fourth in the Trophy and at his next outing he won the listed Gosford Guineas and two runs back was placed against the older horses in Group One company.
The fifth placed Shoot Out has established himself as the most exciting stayer in the country since with a pair of Group One wins from five runs and over $1 million in earnings.
Finishing third to Shoot Out in the Group One Randwick Guineas was Captain Sonador – the sixth placegetter from January’s feature. He’s also won at metro level since.
Femina Fashion, a winner of the listed Gold Coast Bracelet and Doomben Roses runner-up, was seventh home behind Graceful Anna.
Temple of Boom, the eighth placegetter, won the $100,000 Mick Dittman Plate in April before running second in the Group Three Gold Coast Guineas.
Saturday’s most impressive stakes winner Doubtful Jack made it four wins from five runs since the MM Trophy at Flemington and pushed his earnings to $241,100 since January. He was ninth in the Trophy.
The tenth placegetter Fantastic Blue has won two of his next five runs and eleventh finisher Deer Valley is stakes placed since.
Emma’s Heart (15th) was second at her only run back, while last placegetter Princess Qualo has earned $57,000 since with a brilliant win on Doomben 10,000 day.
“It is quite staggering to see the form of these horses since the $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Trophy in January,” Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said.
“At the time we thought the field was strong – but this really proves how classy it was,” he added.
“The first nine over the line have won since January, seven of them at stakes level – the other two group placed!”
