Queensland based stallion, Nothing To Lose has a 100% strike rate with one winner from only one runner.
Collector, by Nothing To Lose out of Kosciusko Country, saluted the judge by 3.3 lengths in the QTIS two-year-old race over 1400 metres at the Sunshine Coast today.
In winning Collector earned his owners $20,500. Collector was purchased at the 2010 Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale by the Wanless family and is trained by Robert Bradshaw.
This is quite a remarkable feat for Nothing To Lose with his first season at stud taunted by the Equine Influenza crisis in 2007 which resulted in him only covering 59 mares. Of those 59 mares, there were only 39 live foals and of those 39 foals only 10 have been named, one being Collector.
Of the other 9 named foals, some of these are currently in the stables of leading Australian trainers being Gerald Ryan, Tony Noonan, Bruce Brown, Troy Hall and Brian Smith and following Collector’s win their racing appearances are eagerly awaited.
Nothing To Lose was a very successful racehorse and also considered by many as America’s best turf horse. By winning the Shadwell Turf Mile Group 1 by 4.5 lengths he earned a higher timeform rating than Australian horses Starcraft, Desert War, Elvstorem, Mummify, Fields of Omagh and Regal Roller.
Nothing To Lose’s record stands at 15 starts for 6 wins, 3 seconds and 1 third winning $1.1m in prizemoney where he won and placed multiple times in Group races.
A draft of eleven Nothing To Lose yearlings are consigned at the upcoming Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale on 17th & 18th April 2011. These lots include 33, 36, 103, 220, 338, 363, 420, 427, 472, 499 & 531. Nothing To Lose’s oldest progeny are currently two year olds.
