A regally bred colt by Elusive Quality has taken the running as the highest priced seller of the 2011 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale at Belmont.
The colt was snapped up by Darren McAuliffe”s Impressive Racing outfit for $240,000 during today’s third session of the popular auction.
“He’s a lovely colt,” McAuliffe said. “I looked after his mum when I was working as a strapper with Lou Luciani.”
“Of all her progeny so far this guy is probably the closest to her,” he added.
“He’s a good, tough looking colt. He’s not that big – but mum wasnt and she was tough and she won a Karrakatta Plate.”
The colt is the sixth foal of the former outstanding juvenile and Karrakatta Plate winner Born Priceless – a beautifully bred daughter of Pricelessly.
The youngster is closely related to Group One winners including Rostova and Imananabaa and fellow group win ners The Heavyweight and Trigger Express.
Catalogued as lot number 318, the colt was offered at the auction by Ron Sayers’ Yarradale Stud.
The sale price of $240,000 passed the previous sale topping figure of $200,000 from Wednesday’s first session for the Street Sense filly from Jezabeel.
During last night’s second session a colt by Stravinsky’s hot sire son Oratorio was sold for $180,000 to the bid of David Harrison.
The third session of the sale continues at the Belmont Park Sales Complex.
