Magic Millions Guineas runner-up Easy Running kicked away a Winter Carnival campaign in style at Eagle Farm today when he stormed home to win the listed Mick Dittman Plate (1000m).

The Easy Rocking gelding produced a dazzling sprint over the final 100 metres after getting off heels and around the leaders.

In a driving finish Easy Running finished with a flurry to get up and beat Sydney visitor Didn’tcostalot by a short half head. Saraji was another long neck back in third place.

The win is the first on the record for Easy Running. He was first past the post in the listed Gold Edition in December but lost the race to Biggles in the stewards room.

After running a close up fifth in the Vo Rogue Plate he went into the $1 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) where he was beaten by Punch On in a thrilling photo finish.

Winning trainer Desleigh Forster was worried that she was again beaten in a thrilling photo finish today.

“I didn’t think he got the photo but Damian Browne is very cool in those situations,” Forster told AAP.

“Had he lost he would have been a good thing beaten.”

Forster said Easy Running would have his next run in the Gold Coast Guineas on May 5 prior to the Fred Best Classic and Queensland Guineas.

It was the second straight Saturday that Forster had saddled up a stakes winner with a horse she purchased from the Magic Millions’ Gold Coast sale ring.

Last Saturday she cheered home the classy sprinter Adebisi in the Bribie Handicap and that horse will run in next Saturday’s Victory Stakes at Group Two level.

The eighth individual stakes winner for record breaking sprinter Easy Rocking, Easy Running is the sole runner to date for his dam Melrose Gardens.

A twice Melbourne winning and stakes performed daughter of Marju, Melrose Gardens is a half sister to the French stakes winner Sangreal.

Easy Rocking went close to having multiple stakes winners today with both Funtantes and Bagman narrowly defeated at Eagle Farm and Morphettville Parks respectively.
