The 2013 Magic Millions Carnival drew to a close on the Gold Coast today with the final session of the sale conducted.
A small selection of yearlings went under the hammer before a racehorse and broodmare sale followed.
All up on the day over $1 million was traded on 130 lots sold with the top price of the day achieved in the racehorse section.
Dysfunction, offered as part of the unreserved reduction sale of Patinack Farm, was purchased by Heinrich Bloodstock for $82,500.
The stakes performed daughter of More Than Ready will be trained by Gillian Heinrich before ultimately retiring to Darlington Stud.
Promising Sydney galloper Brown Doubt will return to the stables of David Pfieffer after he sold for $68,000 late in the day.
The top price for a yearling earlier in the day was $28,000 for Rosari Farm’s Hidden Dragon colt from Analign, purchased by Magic Millions, acting as agent for a Queensland client.
A filly by Street Sense sold for $23,000 to the Money & Chicks Racing outfit, while the Minardi-Charlie Cheese colt from Flatfields Stud sold for $18,000.
“It was pleasing to see buyers from around Queensland as well as New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia as well as from Korea and New Zealand,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox reported.
“Today’s sale brings to a close a successful Gold Coast Yearling Sale where strong figures were returned across most sections.”
“As it the case every year, the sale is sure to prove the sale venue of many champions of the future,” he added.
Cox said Magic Millions was currently busy preparing for upcoming sales during the next couple of months in Launceston (the Tasmanian Yearling Sale on February 14), at Belmont (the Perth Yearling Sale on February 19 and 20), at Morphettville (the Adelaide Yearling Sale from March 11-13) and on the Gold Coast (the QTIS Yearling Sale on March 17 and 18).
