Atomic Force rounded out a “dynamic” day of racing at Rosehill on Coolmore Classic day yesterday when he cruised home to win the listed Maurice McCarten Stakes (1100m).
A member of the Darren Smith stable, Atomic Force is a successful graduate for the team from Dynamic Syndications.
The win was the second straight on Sydney tracks for Atomic Force following his Warwick Farm victory a fortnight earlier on March 5.
With Smith staying at home yesterday as he continues to recover from a broken leg, Dynamic’s Fiona Watt was left to represent winning connections in the mounting yard following the race.
“Darren Smith and his team at Newcastle have done a wonderful job with Atomic Force,” she said.
“I’m just so happy for our owners today – it’s a dream come true for them.”
“We’ve got owners from Queensland, from Perth, Victoria and New South Wales – they’re from everywhere and this is what racing is about.”
“Atomic has had a few issues with feet and that but Darren has got him going just super,” Watt summed up.
Another with big smiles in the mounting yard following the event was winning rider Tim Clark.
“He’s in career best form,” Clark noted. “He’s getting a lot of confidence out of his racing.”
“He’s always promise a lot and Darren has got him going really well.”
“He races best when he’s kept nice and fresh and run over the short sprint trips.”
Atomic Force ($14-$12) raced to the line a length and three quarters clear of the heavily backed favourite Winter King ($4.40-$4.60-$3.80 fav).
Dorf Command ($8-$13) made strong late ground from the back of the field, down the outside of the track, to run third, a further long neck back.
A graduate of Queensland’s historic Raheen Stud, Atomic Force was purchased by Dean Watt’s Dynamic Syndications for $50,000 from the 2007 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
He’s turning out a great moneyspinner for connections sconsidering his earnings have shot past $385,000
He is a gelded son of influential international sire Danehill Dancer – one of 121 stakes winners by the top sire.
His dam Show of Force, twice a Sydney winner as a two-year-old, was four time stakes placed as a juvenile.
She was second in a Group Three Sweet Embrace Stakes and also third in a Group One AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes, Group Two Magic Night Stakes and listed Kindergarten Stakes.
Show of Force in turn is from a Sydney winning half sister to former outstanding galloper Encounter – a winner of 11 races including six at Group One level.
