Dissident rounded out his racetrack career in grand style on Saturday when the stud bound entire scored a brilliant win in the Group One All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick capping a brilliant day for Magic Millions graduates.
The star son of Sebring was one of eight stakes wins on a big day of stakes racing stretching across Australian and into Macau on one of their biggest meetings of the year.
Dissident, a $210,000 purchase from the draft of Widden Stud at the 2012 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, confirmed his favouritism to be crowned Australian Horse of the Year with another win at racing’s elite level.
Driven to the line by champion jockey Jim Cassidy, Dissident found plenty to beat a field packed full of Group One stars headed by minor placegetters Wandjina and Chautacqua.
Dissident, who is heading to stand at Newgate Farm in the Hunter Valley, is a true Magic Millions product. He, his sire and dam, all stakes performers, were all sold at the Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
A winner of seven races and eight times placed from just 21 starts, Dissident retires to stud with earnings of over $2 million and five wins at Group One level.
Hi World (High Chaparral-Beauty World, $120,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Coolmore Stud to Slade Bloodstock) won his third straight Sydney race and second feature in succession on Saturday when he stormed to victory in the Group Three Frank Packer Plate.
Carrying the familiar colours of Slade Bloodstock, Hi World dashed away from his rivals in the straight and then comfortably held out Wine Tales and Merion to win by a length and a half.
The win was another feature for leading Melbourne based trainer Peter Moody who won the Group One All Aged Stakes and Group One Champagne Stakes on the same card. Kerrin McEvoy rode Hi World to victory.
Hi World has won four of his seven lifetime starts and earned over $286,000. He is one of three stakes performers for his dam Beauty World – stakes winner Loveyamadly and stakes performer American Crew are the other two.
Slightly Sweet (Charge Forward-Semitone, P$27,500 Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Twin Palms Stud) won a second feature in three starts when she stormed home to win the Group Three James HB Carr Stakes (1400m) at Randwick.
Near the tail during the early and middle stages of the race, Slightly Sweet showed a great turn of foot over the concluding stages to reel in the leaders and then race clear to win by three parts of a length.
Prepared by Jason Coyle, Slightly Sweet had won the Keith Nolan Classic at Kembla Grange two runs before Saturday and in between had finished close up in the Group One Vinery Stud Stakes.
Slightly Sweet is the first runner to date for her dam Semitone, an unraced Dubai Destination half sister to Gosford Classic winner and Spring Champion Stakes placegetter Stay Tuned.
Daytona Grey (Artie Schiller-Southern Rose, $65,000 Adelaide Yearling Sale, Mill Park Stud to Leon Macdonald) burst into contention for the Group One $500,000 Goodwood with a break through win in the Group Three RN Irwin Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday.
The good looking grey relished the wet track conditions, cruising home under proven big race rider Clare Lindop to win by two and a half lengths and beat a field containing Group One winners Magnifisio and Platelet.
Now a nine time winner and earner of over $368,000, Daytona Grey has been one of Adelaide’s most consistent sprinters over recent seasons and his win in the Irwin was welcomed by his big team of owners, many of which were on course.
Daytona Grey is one of five good winners for the Sydney winning and top producing Unbridled’s Song mare Southern Rose. Her other winners including city victors War Charm, White Rose, French Rose and Eight Thorns.

Now prepared at Ballarat by Archie Alexander, Amorino was a quality Sydney youngster who transitioned to Perth where he won a swag of races including a few at stakes level. Now in Victoria he’s taken another step and continued his run of stakes successes.
After dashing to the front in Saturday’s race the son of Snitzel found enough under Craig Williams to win by a neck and notch career win 10 from 32 starts and send his earnings soaring to $763,650.
Amorino is one of five winners for Steal My Love, a Sydney performed winner by Marauding who is a half sister to Group One winner Danendri – the dam of stakes winners Zingam and Banc de Fortune.
Bargain buy Eclair Choice (California Dane-Bounce, $5,000 National Weanling Sale, Newhaven Park to Thomas Li) will head to the rick Euclase Stakes after beating a quality field of three-year-olds to win Saturday’s listed Redelva Stakes at Morphettville.
Prepared by Phillip Stokes and ridden perfectly by stable jockey Dom Tourneur, Eclair Choice was able to cruise to his first stakes win with a length and a quarter defeat of fellow Magic Millions graduate Idatwo.
Eclair Choice was spotted, selected and purchased as a weanling at the National Sale by his owner, Macau Jockey Club chief Thomas Li – the man who also races Stokes’ Group One winner and Adelaide Yearling purchase Hucklebuck.
His latest stakes winner is by former smart sprinter California Dane and from the unraced Woodman mare Bounce – a half sister to First Burst (dam of Winter Burst) and daughter of Australia’s champion juvenile of 1992, Burst.
Former Sydney galloper The Alfonso (Magnus-Princess Bexaar, $40,000 Gold Coast Horses in Training Sale, Nolen Racing to Frontier Bloodstock) continued his rise through the grades in Macau with a stunning win in the Macau Derby (Macau G1) on Saturday evening.
Raced by Chen Ching Lung and Dato Yap, The Alfonso scored the easiest of wins, cruising to the line to win by five and a quarter lengths in the most dominant of victories.
It was just the second start in Macau for The Alfonso, a galloper who proved himself a classy performer during a successful Australian career with premier Sydney trainer Chris Waller.
The Alfonso is one of four winners for his dam, the winning Xaar mare Princess Baxaar, herself a half sister to Hong Kong’s HK3 Premier Plate winner Sapelli. His second and third dams were also both stakes performers.
The Macau Derby result completed a massive day for one Caulfield trainer – who had won two Group Ones and another group feature in Sydney. Yes, The Alfonso was co-bred by one Peter Moody!
Sacred Hustler (Hussonet-Hula Here, $40,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Arrowfield Stud to Mulcaster Bloodstock as agent) was another to star during a big card of racing in Macau on Saturday evening with a win in the Chairman’s Challenge Cup at stakes level.
