With a swag of outstanding results, it was a weekend to remember for graduates of Baramul Stud.
A Group One win from Samaready, a Group Two success for Divine Calling, a nose Group One second for Fontelina, a Group Two third for Aussies Love Sport and city winners including Pull no Punches and Heart Testa were among the highlights of a big weekend.
On Friday night Samaready won her second Group One success when she whizzed around a damp Moonee Valley circuit to win the Group One Moir Stakes for Mick Price and Craig Newitt.
The daughter of More Than Ready had won her previous start in lower grade, but made the transition to Group One in style with a strong win over crowd favourite Buffering.
Samaready is one of five winners for the grand 100 per cent winner producer Samar, a twice Sydney winning daughter of Secret Savings.
Samar is also the dam of the Group Two Karrakatta Plate winner, Magic Millions Perth 3YO Trophy winner and Magic Millions Perth 2YO Classic runner-up Night War.
A half sister to triple Group One winner County Tyrone, Samar was a handy galloper on the track with wins over 1200 and 1400 metres in town before being retired to Baramul Stud. Tragically she died on September 18.
Her latest yearling, a bay colt by Australia’s champion sire Exceed and Excel will go under the hammer at January’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Divine Calling (Stratum) will head to the Group One Caulfield Guineas after he scored a thrilling win in Friday night’s Group Two Bill Stutt Stakes.
A $210,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase from Baramul Stud, Divine Calling was sent out one of the fancied runners in the race after his previous start win at the same track.
One of four winners from the Light Fingers and Sweet Embrace Stakes winner Rubicall (Rubiton), Divine Calling boasts the impressive record of three wins and two second placings from just seven runs and earnings of $248,780 already.
A half sister to Divine Calling by Kentucky Derby hero Big Brown will also be a member of the Baramul Stud draft at January’s 2014 Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Also set to feature in the same draft is a More Than Ready half brother to Saturday’s Stan Fox Stakes placegetter Aussies Love Sport – a colt who won his previous start at group level.
Fontelina (Testa Rossa) went to within a nose of rounding out a massive weekend for graduates of Baramul Stud when he just missed victory in the Group One Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield on Sunday.
A proven group winner, Fontelina is a $135,000 graduate from the Gold Coast Horses in Training Sale who has now won over $540,000.
