Anabandana sent her future broodmare value soaring when she scored a thrilling win in the Group Three Eclipse Stakes (1200m) at Ellerslie today.
A juvenile daughter of Anabaa, Anabandana edged out the favourite Super Easy to score a valuable group race win at just her third start.
Prepared by Don Sellwood, Anabandana had run two eye catching efforts leading into the Eclipse Stakes and showed she’d benefited from those efforts with a gutsy victory.
The filly was purchased by leading New Zealand bloodstock agent Marcus Corban for $26,000 from the Reavill Farm draft at the 2009 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.
She is by Anabaa – the sire of outstanding female gallopers including Goldikova, Virage de Fortune, Imananabaa, Court, French Bid and recent Villiers Stakes winner Dances on Waves.
She is the second winning produced by her dam – the well bred but unraced Nureyev mare Great Notice.
As well as Anabandana, Great Notice is the dam of four other winners including the Gimcrack Stakes winner Gybe.
Great Notice is a full sister to the international stakes winner European Rose – best known in recent times as the dam of New Zealand One Thousand Guineas winner King’s Rose.
Reavill Farm has an outstanding draft of nine heading to this month’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
A star of the draft is sure to be Stratum’s full brother by Redoute’s Choice from top producer Bourgeois.
The 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale commences on Wednesday, January 12 with the first of six sessions.
