Dash of Class earned his connections a big payday when he steamed to victory in Friday night’s Magic Millions National Yearling Sale 2YO Stakes at Kranji in Singapore.

Not only did he pick up the lion’s share of the S$90,000 race purse, but connections also swept away with a S$30,000 bonus for being an eligible Australian sired and Australian Yearling Sale graduate.

At his second lifetime run, Dash of Class showed a great turn of foot in the straight and went to the line for a strong win under Erasmus Aslam for the Brian Dean stable.

Dash of Class was picked out as a likely type by Dean when he researched the catalogue for last year’s Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale.

His good friend, Bendigo based horseman Shane Fliedner, inspected the youngster on Dean’s behalf, liked what he saw and did the business at the Morphettville auction for the Kranji based conditioner.

“I bought him as a yearling,” Dean said of the $26,000 purchase from the draft of Chatswood Stud. “He went all right at his first start, but I thought he would improve tonight.”

“He’s a horse who probably goes better when he is not crowded and it was a good thing he was caught wide and finished on the outside.”

“I’ll see how he pulls up. I may run him in the last Leg (Aushorse Golden Horseshoe next Friday), you never know.”

Dash of Class is a juvenile gelded son of El Prado’s Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Artie Schiller – a sire of Australian based stars Laser Hawk, I Love It, Daytona Grey, Vain Queen, Lady Melksham, Mezeray Miss and Moving Money.

Friday night’s impressive juvenile winner is the second winner, from three named foals, for the former talented Rubiton mare Crown Ruby.

Prior to being retired to stud Crown Ruby won seven races up to 1200 metres, earning almost $123,000 with a win at Moonee Valley among her best performances.

Crown Ruby’s other runner, Dash of Class’ full brother Heisenberg, is a present day performer with three wins at 1000 metres.

As well as being a handy performer in her own right, Crown Ruby has a handy pedigree – being a half sister to three stakes performers – Testa Reale, Royal Bender and Blue Royalty. It is the family of Singapore star El Padrino – a winner in Singapore, Korea and Dubai.
