Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) is excited to announce industry powerhouse Magic Millions will add a touch of gold to Caulfield this spring as naming rights sponsor for two key races. |
Magic Millions will take the reins of the Group 1 Magic Millions Memsie Stakes (1400m) on Moët & Chandon Memsie Stakes Day (Saturday 29 August) and the Magic Millions Debutant Stakes (1000m) on Caulfield Guineas Day (Saturday 10 October). The partnership with the Melbourne Racing Club will be Magic Millions’ first with a metropolitan race club in Victoria, and continues the success story with Caulfield and elite two-year-olds, with 2020 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Tagaloa purchased from the Gold Coast Yearling Sale and Caulfield-trained Away Game the winner of the 2020 The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic. Last year’s Debutant Stakes was also a Magic Millions affair, with the trifecta (1st – Tanker, 2nd – Euphoric Summer, and 3rd – Queen of Rocks) all sold through the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, and four of the last five winners of the Debutant Stakes (Tanker (2019), Champagne Boom (2018), Qafila (2017), and Missrock (2015)) all victorious in the prestigious Spring juvenile stakes feature following their purchase months earlier on the Gold Coast. Given the spectacular results shared between the Club and Magic Millions over the last twelve months, MRC Chief Executive Officer, Josh Blanksby says the partnership is a great fit. “We’ve had a natural and evolving association with Magic Millions over the years, and we’re excited to have them on board as naming rights sponsor for the Memsie and the Debutant, the latter being one they have dominated in recent times.” “Magic Millions continues to be a player in innovating the racing scene and we can’t wait to continue creating history this spring by adding another chapter to our fantastic story together.” Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch recognises how significant it is to contribute to the industry and its participants this spring. “We support the Melbourne Racing Club and all Victorian racing industry participants during this unprecedented time. The Victorian Spring Carnival is so important to all within our racing family and it’s a privilege to be part of it in 2020.” “We are delighted to be able to partner with one of the most progressive race clubs in Australia on two of their most iconic races, particularly the Debutant Stakes, with elite two-year-olds being a signature of our brand.” Moët & Chandon Memsie Stakes Day takes place this Saturday 29 August at Caulfield Racecourse and will be broadcast on Seven and Racing.com. |
