When you purchase a thoroughbred, one of the first enjoyable journeys in the ownership experience is registering your horse’s name, your ownership and the colours your horse will race in.
Up to twenty individual owners can now be listed in a horse’s ownership so don’t miss out on getting your name in the racebook!
Following a successful purchase of a weanling, yearling or 2YO, Magic Millions will email an official Racing Australia Unnamed Horse Transfer of Ownership form that must be completed and submitted to the Registrar of Racehorses within four weeks of the sale date.
Once you have settled your purchase, Magic Millions will provide you with the Foal Identification Card issued by the Australian Stud Book. This is essentially the horse’s ‘passport’ and is a very important card which must be lodged with the application to register (name) your horse.
All aspects of the registration process is conducted with the Registrar of Racehorses, a division of Racing Australia.
To download forms to register your horse, your colours and find out further information on ownership options as well as conditions of leasing a racehorse, please go to the Registrar of Racehorses. Forms to notify of a change to ownership of a racehorse are also provided here.
You can also utilise Racing Australia’s national online portal for industry participants to manage the registration process online at myhorseracing.horse.

If you are unsure of any aspect of the registration process please don’t hesitate to contact a Magic Millions Bloodstock staff member who will be happy to guide you through this exciting part of the ownership experience.
