The outstanding recent form of graduates of the Magic Millions 2YOs in Training Sale has continued around the world.
Headlined by Singapore group winner Goal Keeper, graduates have made winning a habit in recent days and weeks in quality events.
On Sunday at Hawkesbury promising youngster Echo Prince kick started his career with a debut win in the two-year-old event for Star Thoroughbreds, Gai Waterhouse and Tim Clark.
A $67,500 purchase from last year’s Gold Coast 2yos in Training Sale, Echo Prince (Casino Prince) beat home Adelaide Yearling purchase Nip of Time in a thrilling finish.
Echo Prince is one of 22 individual winners already to have emerged from the sale held late last year.
The almost two dozen hail includes the sale topper Bugatty, a Flemington winner and Melbourne Autumn Carnival stakes race runner-up, while another graduate, Thief of Hearts was a listed second at his only run to date.
This season’s two-year-old winners also include stakes performed Singapore winner Castor, multiple Brisbane winner No Problem and international winners in Macau, Korea and Malaysia.
Quality mare Cradle Me continued the run for sale graduates when she steamed home for an outstanding win at Rosehill on Saturday for David Pfieffer.
A $28,000 value buy from the Pointon & Howard Racing draft, Cradle Me sent her earnings soaring past $333,000 with the win and in the process book a likely trip to Melbourne for the Spring Carnival.
Cradle Me isn’t the first star mare purchased from the 2YOs in Training Sale to win big for Pfieffer with former Magic Millions Guineas winner and group winner Graceful Anna a former graduate as well.
The 2010 sale which produced Cradle Me is also responsible for stakes performers Fontelina, El Milagro, Lucky and Wealthy, Colin the Firth, I’m Cool as well as Black Jag and recent Singapore group winner Goal Keeper.
In recent weeks and months Macau has played host to many wins of quality graduates. This past weekend they were at it again with Sunshine Blaze (Court Command – $50,000 from Equine Global) winning on Friday night.
Last Wednesday in Sydney, Perfect Weapon (Canny Lad) won his sixth race with a comprehensive victory under Sam Clipperton at Warwick Farm.
A $55,000 purchase from Raheen Stud at the Gold Coast, Perfect Weapon has already earned over $130,000 and looks to have a bright future for the Greg Hickman stable.
Last Saturday week at the Gold Coast both two-year-old winners were graduates of the Magic Millions 2YOs in Training Sale – Casinomac (Casino Prince) and Olive Com (Choisir).
A day later in Singapore Goal Keeper, a $44,000 purchase from Hilly Red Farm, won the Group Three Paititi Gold Trophy (1200m) at Kranji.
A son of Untouchable, Goal Keeper has won 11 of his 27 starts and earned over S$800,000 for owner Sam Chee Kiong and trainer Theo Kieser.
And let’s not forget the most recent Australasian sold winner of the Melbourne Cup, Shocking was a $64,000 2YO in Training Sale purchase for his owner Laurence Eales.
