A sizzling winning performance from Boban led the way for Magic Millions graduates on a successful Saturday of racing around Australia.

Bookmakers reacted to Boban’s effortless almost four length win in the Group Three Bill Ritchie Handicap shortening him in to equal favouritism for the Group One Epsom Handicap.

A member of the all conquering Chris Waller stable, Boban showed a blistening turn of foot in the straight under Glyn Schofield and in a matter of strides raced away from his rivals in one of the performances of the day.

Waller said the son of Bernardini had continued to improve with maturity and was gaining great confidence from a streak of recent excellent form.

Boban was purchased by the BBA for $100,000 at the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and was intitially trained in Melbourne by Anthony Freedman.

Freedman prepared the son of Group One winning mare Kenbelle to a stakes victory in Brisbane in the Doomben Slipper before he was transferred to Waller in Sydney.

Another of the impressive winning performances in Sydney on Saturday came from the untapped Darley three-year-old Barbed in the Heritage Stakes.

A winner of his only other start at Canterbury in early May, Barbed showed great fight to edge out Diamond Oasis and Whittington in a thrilling three way finish to the feature event.

Bred and raced by Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley operation, Barbed is by Canny Lad and from the stakes winning mare Key Bar Nights. Be is the first runner for his dam.

A beautifully bred daughter of Anabaa, Key Bar Nights was purchased by Darley from Rocksberg Spelling at the 2009 Magic Millions August Thoroughbred Sale.

A winner of the Sir Douglas Wadley Plate, Key Bar Nights is from the grand producer Huntington Girl – the dam of 12 winners including four stakes performers. Aside from Key Bar Nights her other stand out progeny is Stan Fox and Sweet Embrace Stakes winner Dynamic Love.

Quality three-year-old filly Gregers is headed to a clash with champion Sydneysider Guelph following a strong win in Saturday’s Group Two Thousand Guineas Prelude at Caulfield.

Prepared by master horseman David Hayes, Gregers will head to the Group One Thousand Guineas without another run after beating in form rivals Marianne and Politeness.

A $130,000 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale purchase for Hayes, Gregers boasts the outstanding record of four wins from six starts and earnings of $379,500. At another of her runs she can an eye catching fourth in the Blue Diamond Stakes.

A daughter of Commands, Gregers is a three quarter sister to Peter Moody’s stakes performed galloper Club Command and is from a full sister to the Adelaide and Sydney winning dam of Group One winners Ofcourseican and Gimmethegreenlight.

Catkins gave the Ingham family’s cerise colours another trip to the winner’s stall in a stakes race when she scored a thrilling victory in the Group Three Sportingbet Sprint on Saturday.

Already a two time listed winner in Sydney, Catkins took the step to group three grade and edged out Hi Belle to get the job done and score her best win.

With seven wins and four second placings from just 14 starts, Catkins has earned connections $467,910 – a magnificent return considering she cost the Ingham family just $85,000 from the Amarina Farm draft at the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

A daughter of Irish Two Thousand Guineas winner Dubawi, Catkins is from a twice race Catbird half sister to former quality Adelaide galloper, 10 time winner Rally.

Quality Victorian four-year-old Star Rolling scored a breakthrough stakes win in Adelaide on Saturday when he cruised to victory in the listed Tokyo City Cup.

Prepared by the Peter Morgan and Craig Widdison training partnership, Star Rolling showed a great turn of foot near the turn and then cruised home to beat fellow equal favourite Let’s Make Adeal by a soft two lengths.

The win was the fourth in six starts for the progressive performer who looks to have a bright future for his connections.

Star Rolling is the fifth individual stakes winner for Casino Prince, a Group One winning son of Flying Spur who was a $130,000 purchase from the Adelaide Yearling Sale.

He is from a three time winning Zabeel daughter of triple group winner Frenetic (Truly Vain) making her a half sister to two stakes performers including Murray Bridge Gold Cup winner Mustaagel.

Star Rolling was purchased for connections by leading New Zealand based bloodstock agent Dean Hawthorne from the Cressfield draft for $155,000 at the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Meanwhile, underrated Adelaide galloper Out of Coober looks set to back up on Friday night at Moonee Valley following his long price win in the Tile Importer Handicap at Caulfield on Saturday.

Prepared by Morphettville based horseman Bill Smart, Out of Coober was sent out at long odds despite winning the Mildura Cup at his previous start.

Named after the famous South Australian opal mining town Coober Pedy, Out of Coober was purchased by Smart for just $3,800 at the 2011 Magic Millions July Monthly Sale in Adelaide.

The talented performer was allowed to settle back in the field before storming home under Dean Yendall to win by three parts of a length at $51.

Now a five time winner and earner of over $207,000, Out of Coober is by Canny Lad’s Pago Pago Stakes winner Planchet and is from a five time winning daughter of Celestial Dancer.

His dam London Lass is a half sister to the exciting Perth sprinter Iseethingsyoudon’t and the Rockhampton Capricornia Classic winner Picabelle.
