Bargain Buy Delights In Dequetteville

Locals Chris Bieg and Amy Herrmann celebrated their biggest wins on a big day’s racing at Morphettville today when quality filly Dashitude won the listed Dequetteville Stakes (1100m).

Beaten just once in six starts, Dashitude notched a valuable stakes success for connections when she finished too well for fellow locals Dinkum Diamond and Stella Lante.

Herrmann had the filly travelling lovely throughout in the running line before coming with a strong run in the straight to score a popular victory.

The filly, a $5,500 bargain buy from last year’s Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, was sent out one of the leading fancies after a strong last start win at Caulfield in Melbourne.

“To have a runner in a listed race is a dream, but to actually get there and win like that, it was very exciting,” Bieg said.

“We only have the one disappointment with her in the Cinderella on Cup Day, but since then she hasn’t done a thing wrong.”

“We gave her a good freshen up after Melbourne and she put on some weight. She’s only a little filly.”

“She was such a cheap little horse and we’ve got so many connections – friends of friends and it’s great to have them here to support her.”

“She only cost $5,500 and she’s now taken her kitty to about $200,000 and she’s won a listed race – just fantastic,” Bieg added.

Amy Herrmann has been the regular rider of Dashitude and she was again aboard her favourite horse this afternoon.

“She’s five (starts) for four (wins). Unfortunately I broke my shoulder and missed one of those wins and also a lised ride.”

“But she did the job today and it’s just great,” she added.

Bred and sold by the McKay family’s Marana Park Thoroughbreds operation in the South East of South Australia, Dashitude is the seventh individual stakes winner for former star Magic Millions graduate Dash for Cash.

Dashitude is one of four winners produced by the five time winning Royal Academy mare Royal Tango – a daughter of the group winning Without Fear mare Light Action.

Royal Tango, who was also placed in Adelaide, is a half sister to the stakes winner Ventilago (11 wins from 1000 to 2000 metres).
