Lucky and Wealthy lived up to his name and emerged as one of the most promising gallopers in Macau when he produced a last stride win to snatch the listed Lisboa Juvenile (1200m) on Sunday.
Sent out the favourite, Lucky and Wealthy notched career win four at start 10, when he finished too well to beat Smiling Happy by a nose.
Trust Me Bet was the best of the rest, running third, a further two and a half lengths back.
Prepared by Geoff Allendorf, Lucky and Wealthy was sent out the popular elect after an eye catching last start second behind fellow Magic Millions graduate Speedy Leo in the listed Lisboa Prelude on February 18.
A chestnut gelding, Lucky and Wealthy is turning out another great value buy from the Magic Millions sales.
He was originally purchased by Queensland based trainer John Wallace for $9,000 from the draft of Goodwood Farm at the 2010 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast.
He then made $14,000 when purchased by Magic Millions, acting as agent for his current Macau connections, at the National Horses in Training Sale four months later.
Lucky and Wealthy is the second stakes winner for young Danehill sire Strada – sire of Brisbane stakes winner Charm’s Honour.
The new Macau star is one of five winners produced by the Zabeel mare Star Above – a winner over 1400 metres.
Star Above in turn is from the Brisbane winning Major Sport mare Belaya and hails from the same family as the present day Cranbourne prepared group winner That’s the One.
