Quality Toowoomba mare Dual Chamber will likely head to the Bernborough Handicap after doubling her stakes win count in Saturday’s listed Just Now Handicap (1300m) at Eagle Farm.
Prepared by renowned horseman Rex Lipp, Dual Chamber showed great acceleration in the straight to race clear of the favourite Skating on Ice and win brilliantly.
At the post she and rider Eddie Wilkinson had a length and three quarter margin over the Les Kelly prepared fancy, while Just Destiny was another length back in third place.
“She’s been very temperamental and a real headache before now, but we’ve finally got her cured,” Lipp told AAP.
“She’s bigger and stronger now and more mature but a lot of it has been in her head.”
“I’m really not sure what to do with her now but I’d say the Bernborough will be her next goal,” Lipp added.
Winning rider Eddie Wilkinson said the mare gave him a good feel during the race and he was impressed with her acceleration when asked.
“She’s pretty hard to deal with but she got the right run through the race,” Wilkinson told AAP.
“She really quickened up nicely when I called on her for an effort,” he added.
Dual Chamber is turning out a great earner for her connections – a cool $348,500 earned from 28 runs – of which includes 10 runs in the first three.
That’s not bad considering the Oakwood Stud graduate could have been yours for just $40,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast.
It was fitting that Dual Chamber would win the feature fillies and mares race named after former star filly Just Now – as the two hail from the same family.
One of two stakes winners on the Eagle Farm card for leading Glenlogan Park based sire Show a Heart, Dual Chamber is one of three winners produced by the unraced Lion Hunter mare Strong of Heart.
She is a full sister to the seven time winning and stakes performed gelding Blazing Hearts – a winner of over $187,000.
Dual Chamber hails from a famous Queensland family – the same distaff pedigree as stars including Shiva’s Revenge, Scenic Warrior, Lolita Star, Femina Fashion and multiple South African Group One winner Happy Archer.
