Gai Waterhouse’s charge toward January’s $2 million BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) received another boost today when No Looking Back dominated the juvenile race at Warwick Farm.
Living up to the pre-race support she received with bookmakers, No Looking Back got to the line well clear of stablemate Blazing Snitzel in all Magic Millions finish to the event.
A $500,000 purchase for Waterhouse at January’s Gold Coast Yearling Sale, No Looking Back got home three parts of a length clear of her stablemate in an eye catching performance.
“There’s No Looking Back!” Waterhouse beamed after the race.
“She couldn’t have been much more impressive than she was – it was a good win.”
“She did a good job as she had to do a bit of work early (in the race). I really love the way she sprinted away at the finish.”
“Both of them (the winner and runner-up) will head to the Magic Millions now. I will just to work out if they have another run or not.”
No Looking Back, bred and sold by John Singleton’s Strawberry Hill Stud, was the top priced filly at January’s Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Today’s race continued the domination of Magic Millions graduates in juvenile races around and country and those trained by Waterhouse.
Her three previous Sydney two-year-old winners this season – Driefontein, Pure Hustle and the Breeders Plate winner Pierro – are all Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchases.
Waterhouse has won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on three occasions with Assertive Lad (2000), Excellerator (2001) and Dance Hero (2004).
The 2012 $2 million BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) will be run at the Gold Coast on January 14.
The cleverly named No Looking Back is by Redoute’s Choice and is from the former outstanding Dehere mare Mirror Mirror.
A member of the famous Tennessee family, Mirror Mirror won the 2006 Magic Millions 2YO Classic and a Gimcrack Stakes and was one of the star juveniles of her season.
No Looking Back is Mirror Mirror’s first foal.
Her second foal, a cracking yearling colt by Exceed and Excel, is being prepared by Strawberry Hill Stud for January’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
An outstanding individual, the colt is catalogued as lot 132 and he will go under the hammer during the first session of the sale on January 11.
Meanwhile, Adelaide Yearling Sale bargain Dashitude commenced her racing career in the best possible fashion when she won the juvenile race at Morphettville.
Prepared at the track by Chris Bieg, Dashitude was purchased from the draft of Marana Park Thoroughbreds for just $5,500.
