Quality Australian bred and sold filly Happy Archer has doubled her group one win tally when she downed a crack field in last night’s Garden Province Stakes (1600m) at Greyville.
The South African based filly shot to prominence last season when she won the Group One Thekwini Stakes and overnight she returned to Greyville to win the fillies and mares feature.
Prepared by Sean Tarry, Happy Archer (7/1-11/1) found plenty under proven big race rider Anton Marcus to defeat Beach Beauty (11/2-13/2) by three parts of a length.
Dance With Al (25/1-15/1) was another length back in third place but both minor placegetters were no match for the winner.
Happy Archer, a daughter of Dubawi, is trained by Sean Tarry – having been purchased at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $23,000.
The filly was bred and sold by leading Queensland based thoroughbred nursery, Racetree.
Happy Archer is one of two outstanding stakes winners produced by the 100% winner-getter So Tempted.
An Adelaide winner in her own right, So Tempted is also the dam of the Gold Coast Bracelet winner and almost $400,000 earner Femina Fashion.
So Tempted is a full sister to the Wakeful Stakes winner and VRC Oaks placegetter Lolita Star and half sister to the Adelaide Guineas winner Berezny.
Further back it is the family of the former outstanding galloper Shiva’s Revenge.
The win of Happy Archer was the second at Group One level for Magic Millions graduates on the card following the win of the Magic Albert youngster Fighting Warrior in the Golden Horseshoe.
