Collector emphasised the value of the Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale when he scored a brilliant win in today’s $150,000 JJ Atkins QTIS 2YO Plate (1200m) at Toowoomba.

A lightly raced gelding by first season sire Nothing to Lose, Collector came with a strong run on the outside of the field to win narrowly, but emphatically.

Collector has been a revelation since joining the Robert Bradshaw stable after two down the track efforts for another stable.

“I thought he was a good thing,” Bradshaw said of the youngster who paid long odds.

“He’d only had the two runs for me – first time out he got pole-axed on the corner and got back to last and then flew home for fourth.”

“And then I backed him up a week later at the Sunshine Coast – he sat five wide and won in a canter.”

“I was pretty confident in him today.” Bradshaw summed up. “I’ve only had him the three runs and he’s done a good job.”

Collector was purchased by owner Leigh Wanless for just $7,500 from the draft of Robyn Wise at last year’s Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale.

Now the winner of his past two races, Collector has already earned a staggering $118,500.

The juvenile is one of two winners from three named foal for the once raced Timber Country mare Kosciusko Country.

She is from the stakes winning juvenile Julep – making her a half sister to the four time Group One placegetter Palate.

It is also the family of the Group One South Australian Derby winner Vacuum and recent Flemington stakes winner King Diamond.

Collector’s sire Nothing to Lose has 11 youngsters catalogued for the upcoming Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale.

A son of Sky Classic, Nothing to Lose won six races, including two at two, including the Group One Turf Mile Stakes at Keeneland.

Also catalogued in the auction is a full sister to today’s JJ Atkins Plate runner-up Outback Grande (Lot 107).

The popular auction will be held at the Gold Coast on April 17 and 18.
