Military Grace continued her march to the $2 million BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic when she won today’s listed BJ McLachlan Stakes (1200m) at Doomben.
Carrying the colours carried to victory in last year’s Classic with Military Rose, Military Grace sat on the speed and quickened when required in the straight to record a strong victory.
Trainer Gillian Heinrich couldn’t have been more pleased with the performance of the winner. Another of her juveniles, Internal Revenue was fourth in a competitive race.
“She’ll go straight into the Magic Millions now and there is still plenty of improvement in her,” Heinrich told AAP.
“She’d only had one trial over 1000 metres before her first up run two weeks ago and she’ll take benefit out of this.”
“Today’s run on the wet track would have tightened her up that little bit more and she’ll be spot on come Magic Millions day,” she added.
The Heinrichs purchased Military Grace from the draft of Baramul Stud for $100,000 at January’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
From just three runs she’s already earned $178,000 – and being a stakes winning filly with a pedigree she’s a valueable youngster.
Fellow Magic Millions Classic aspirants Wonderful You and Merryanna filled the minor placings in the feature juvenile race as they chase a start in Queensland’s richest race.
Military Grace by former Magic Millions Classic winner General Nediym is the first named foal for the Belong to Me mare Searchlights.
Unraced, Searchlights is a half sister to the Blue Diamond Preview winner and Blue Diamond Stakes placegetter World Peace.
Both Searchlights and World Peace were produced by the triple group winning Rory’s Jester mare Light Up the World.
