Classic Value Is Nothing Short Of Magic

In the space of eight days Magic Millions graduates proved their class by winning two Derbies and two Oaks’.

And while that is impressive – even more so is the fact that the four were purchased at a total cost of $124,000.

The quarter of gallopers, who have raced on 54 occasions for 26 wins and 13 minor placings have earned well over $2.75 million.

Shoot Out kicked away the streak when he scored a resounding win in Sydney’s premier three-year-old event, the AJC Derby, at Randwick just over a week ago.

In leading home a trifecta for High Chaparral, Shoot Out gave his Queensland connections their biggest success.

Shoot Out was purchased by Linda Huddy for just $15,000 from the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

As it stands the outstanding three-year-old has won over $1.36 million.

Back to Randwick and seven days on it was the turn of Once Were Wild to star in her demolition job in the AJC Oaks.

Once Were WildThe Gai Waterhouse trained daughter of Johannesburg was purchased by Amanda Skiffington for $50,000 from the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

A six time winner from just eight starts, Once Were Wild proved her status as one of the rising stars of the turn when she spanked reigning VRC Oaks winner Faint Perfume.

And all that was achieved in her first ever racing preparation.

On the other side of the country on Saturday the Darren McAuliffe trained Impressive Jeuney lived up to her name with a strong all the way win the WA Oaks.

A $27,000 bargain buy for her trainer at the 2007 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, Impressive Jeuney as her name suggests is a daughter of Melbourne Cup winner Jeune.

The Newhaven Park graduate hails from a family packed full of Western Australian based stakes winners.

Impressive Jeuney has won six races – three at stakes level – and is a strong chance of backing up in this Saturday’s Group One WATC Derby.

Not long after the Oaks success in Perth, the Magic Millions’ winning run in Classics continued abroad when star Macau four-year-old Luen Yat Forever won the HK$2.6 million Macau Derby.

Luen Yat ForeverA $32,000 bargain buy from the 2006 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, Luen Yat Forever is a son of Honours List who was sold by leading Queensland based operation Glenlogan Park.

Luen Yat Forever, a winner of nine of his 19 starts, has won the equivalent of $612,800 in Macau for trainer Steven Choi.

Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester couldn’t help but be impressed by the winning streak in classic races.

“For graduates of our sales to have won four classic races in eight days in a great achievement for Magic Millions,” Chester said.

“And the results further show what we’ve been saying for years – the value of Magic Million sales – it is second to none.”

“Statistics reveal that stakes winners from Magic Millions are purchased for half that than from other sales in Australia.”

“And to have a pair of Oaks winners and a pair of Derby winners all purchased for a combined total of just $124,000 is phenomenal.”

Buyers looking for their next value buy don’t have long to wait for the National Sale – the Southern Hemisphere’s leading breeding stock sale – it starts on May 26.

“Those serious about getting value will be on the Gold Coast,” Chester said. “Those who aren’t there will regret it later.”
