Great Destiny A Perth Sale Pointer

The reputation of the Perth Mixed Thoroughbred Sale as a great value buying sale was boosted again on Sunday when quality Perth stayer Great Destiny went back to back in the $70,000 Albany Cup (2100m).

Another good winner for top young Perth horseman Adam Durrant, Great Destiny ground down Telexdon in an all Magic Millions finish to the feature WA contest.

It was the second straight win in Albany’s feature for the tough six-year-old gelded son of Second Empire.

Durrant went to $32,000 to buy the then three-year-old, the veteran of four starts, at the 2007 Magic Millions Perth Thoroughbred Sale – he was sold as a racing proposition by the Peters family.

In less than three years Great Destiny has returned his current connections $417,625 with 12 wins and 11 minor placings from 38 starts.

The win is a timely reminder about the buying from the popular Mixed Thoroughbred Perth Sale with a quality catalogue of lots to go under the hammer on Sunday, April 18.

The sale, which will start at 11am (WA time), features 239 lots – the first nine lots in the ring coming from Peters Investments.

Included in the Peters Investments draft is the stakes winner Cohort and Perth city winners Highest Honour, Legal Agent and Classic Lad.

Great Destiny isn’t the only recent success story to come from the sale with Cheri Cheval – a $3,400 bargain buy for her trainer Eric Wake – flying the flag.

Since Wake signed for the Comfy filly the three-year-old has won three races including a last start success in the listed Raconteur Stakes.

The bonny filly has already won over $92,000 from just 12 starts and being a stakes winner she has good residual value as well.
