Kryptelon
Kryptelon led home a Magic Millions trifecta and sent her broodmare value soaring when she stormed home to win the listed Gai Waterhouse Classic (1350m) at Ipswich today.

Prepared on the Gold Coast by accomplished horseman David Kelly, Kryptelon was racing for the first time since a fifth placing in a feature fillies and mares race at Doomben in February.

Three runs back the classy performer ran second to Plain Magic in the Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Quality in January.

“She’s been knocking on the door in these big races,” Kelly said. “I’m glad she’s been able to win one.”

He said the mare hadn’t won when first up prior to today – but the distance was the key to her breakthrough success.

Happy connections“Before this I’d only put her in 1000 metre (races) first up and they’ve always run her off her legs.”

“Today she was able to stay in touch. She’d had two jump outs and a barrier trial.”

“I thought if she got a nice easy run in transit she would be able to let down – and she did.”

The mare will most likely have her next run in one of the feature provincial races in New South Wales.

“I was going to just freshen her up and look at the Grafton Ramornie – so that will probably be the main goal at the moment.”

“It’s about three or so weeks away and it’s my hometown and I’d like to win the race,” Kelly summed up.

Kryptelon ($14) steamed home to beat Beyonce’s Star ($16) by a length. Another head back in third place was the ever consistent Paprika ($3.70 fav).

KryptelonThe winner has been a great money spinner for connections considering she cost senior part owner Bruce Peterson just $18,000 at the 2006 Magic Millions Premier (QTIS 600) Yearling Sale.

With eight wins and 10 minor placings from just 27 starts, Kryptelon has earned over $215,000 and now being a stakes winner she is a valuable broodmare prospect.

By former outstanding Queensland sprinter Falvelon, Kryptelon is one of six winners produced by the international stakes performed mare Krypto Katie.

A daughter of Cryptoclearance, Krypto Katie won three races international and was second in a listed Windy City Stakes at Hawthorne.

Krypto Katie, who’s dam is a stakes winner, is a half sister to two international stakes winners as well as top producing mare Ting a Tong (dam of G1 winner Campesino – Maanae).

Beyonce’s Star almost gave her new connections a massive pay day when she dashed clear when turning for home.

Now in the stables of Bryan Guy, Beyonce’s Star was a $40,000 purchase for Vin Cox at the recent Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

And the third placegetter Paprika was a $75,000 yearling purchase from the Gold Coast.
